FL: Tent camp of homeless sex offenders near Hialeah ‘has got to close,’ county says

This should be quite east to resolve: ease the residency restrictions and the public registry. Criminal cases should be evaluated on a case by case basis. If a person has done an act that warrants being restricted from an area then that is that case. But as it stands, all SO are treated as kidnappers and rapists. That is the problem, and it simply isn’t so, and most SO’s never reoffend. The absurd overreaction has created this problem.

This is a conflict of interest where Ron is concerned. He creates these issues and enforces them to benefit his organization as I see it because his organization can help solve the issues he creates! This is a self licking ice cream cone! He gets his daughter involved too because she can help the licking from the state legislature!

Lauren’s kids is a 501c3, which means she can beg for money from her moneyed Florida co conspirators. One has to consider a conflict of interest because her father, Ronald Book, the ‘powerful’ head of Miami-Dade’s homeless board is obviously well connected in the stupid state, has done intense and extensive lobbying for restrictive laws against sex offenders, and I think Laurens kids owe their very existence to the position of Lauren Book’s father. l’ll bet dollars to dimes many moneyed people, companies and institutions donate to Laurens kids to retain the favor of her father. And why not? It’s a tax write off and who cares about sex offenders in Florida anyway? She reminds me of a mini me Hillary Clinton; evil and with no problem harming great numbers of people to profit and make herself look good at the expense of others. I wonder how much money really goes to her stated cause. This is just one more example of a parasitic organization that owes it’s existence, and it’s it’s continued existence to keeping the public misinformed about how “dangerous” and likely to re-offend sex offenders are. This is a veritable Berlin Wall against progress and enlightenment in regards to the draconian Florida mind set when it comes to sex offender laws. Lauren’s kids kind of reminds me of Crime Victims United in California.

This should be a human rights case, because these registrants that have done nothing wrong but are being pushed further into destitute and have nothing, and there’s political corruption.

I agree with Tired of this, and feel this type of media attention will only help any Snyder arguments for us. This situation appears to be exceedingly worse than the Grand Rapids de facto banishment in Snyder. Thank you, Miami-Dade, for being a clear example of what troubles Justice Kennedy.

I’m not surprised a federal judge ruled against the ACLU in its suit. It seems in “big” cases, Federal District judges tend to decide in favor of status quo and allow the Circuit Court of Appeals actually figure out the law. Too often in cases I’ve read (and not just those about RCs), the District judge is overruled by the Appeals Court. It’d be nice if the District judges would put a bit more effort into their work.

As for Lauren Book, her quote in the story made me think perhaps she’s not as rabid as her father. From the article: “I think the local law has caused unintended consequences,” she said. “You’re seeing it.” For that to be to only quote from her in the story says something, I’m just not certain what. One would have expected her to be a little more acidic about this situation, but she instead indicates seeing a problem. What exactly she sees and where it goes, who knows. I’m guessing with Daddy leading the charge, it probably goes nowhere.

As for the elder Book, he has blatant conflict of interest issues, but that’s apparently par for the course in FL. I did get a chuckle out of the fact the Tuttle camp was called Bookville. That had to stick in his craw a bit, regardless his callousness towards those fellow humans.
