The Boy On The Bus: When Sex Offender Registries Aren’t Enough

My husband carries a photo of me in his wallet tucked behind credit cards, his driver’s license and carefully folded bills. I ask him to give it to me as we stand in the reception area of the jail in Tama County, Iowa, in December 2015. He looks ready to ask: Why? Then, he silently pulls it from his wallet. Full Essay

While I get that she feels victimized by the guy, this is the kind of lying propaganda that feeds the hysteria and makes life bordering on not worth it for so many of us, making the author just as disgusting in my eyes as she sees us.

So she goes on this endlessly verbose, blathering, self-righteous rant discounting all current data to come to the ludicrous conclusion that if only everyone was on registry they wouldn’t offend again. I think that was her conclusion. The article was so long and meandering and riddled with demagoguery over her trauma on the school bus as a child that I couldn’t really understand exactly what she was saying, but clearly her vitriol towards sex offenders (even though she was never actually a victim) was quite clear.

Stopped reading this after the first paragraph. Don’t have time for “victims” that bathe in their self pity. I needed to get on with my life, she needs to also.
