California RSOL met its goal of obtaining 500 signatures on a petition challenging the ordinance passed by Orange County which prohibits all registrants from entering parks, beaches, harbors and other recreational area. The petition was sent to District Attorney (DA) Tony Rackauckas because of his role in promoting the county ordinance as well as lobbying cities within the county to pass similar ordinances. A letter accompanying the petition asks the DA to work with California RSOL to revise and/or repeal all ordinances within Orange County. The letter also warns the DA that additional lawsuits and negative media attention will result if he fails to do so. Two lawsuits have already been filed that challenge ordinances adopted in four cities within Orange County as well as one city within Ventura County. Media attention for the lawsuits has been statewide, national and international.

Thanks to the 500 people who signed this petition! Based upon your input, we were able to send a strong message to the DA in Orange County. We have now given him an opportunity to work with us. If he does not, then we will continue to challenge these unconstitutional lawsuits both in the courts and in the press.
