What a crying shame that the perverted and by and large false beliefs of a few here in the US has spawned a global witch hunt. It’s highly disturbing that society as a whole seems so willing to believe whatever they are told without even considering that they should look at the facts for themselves.

I wonder how many potentially great male teachers will never positively influence the lives of little people in Oz. I’ve never heard of this happening with potential teachers here in the US, but I suspect if I looked I would probably find the same tragedy taking place here, as well as in every country that has been infected with the false beliefs that were borne here in the US. This is just more of the negative effects of this lie that is call the “sex offender.”

I have seen several men put in this position. Male teacher actually demands a child does homework, follow the classroom and school rules. Next thing you know he is on a mandatory leave of absence due to accusations made by some vindictive student that didn’t get the A she felt she was entitled to just by showing up for class. I have also heard of accusations made twenty years later against a teacher. For the amount of money, teachers are paid, it’s just not worth the risk. I am a former teacher and left my vocation many years ago when it was apparent to me the teacher no longer has any authority in the classroom.

My son is a teacher, a very good and dedicated teacher who teaches middle school(sp.ed). We have almost begged him to find a different profession.

What a shame. Why is it being made so easy to falsely accuse someone? We will not only lose teachers (male and female), but possibly other professions that deal with children. It started with sexual harassment when someone just politely commented on a dress you were wearing. Now, everybody is afraid of that, too, as not to get sued for harassment. I saw a good movie the other day, and the boy said something about the guy his mother was dating. His girlfriend told him to just tell the cops that he touched him, and that would take care of him… It was just a movie, but it is so true. Scary world for everyone, even the ones who think that SO laws need to be stricter. They, too, will have to watch what they say or do. Anybody could be falsely accused, and I want to see their faces then, thinking it could not happen to them. This world is really becoming one with little or no interactions with others, for fear of being accused. Is that really what we want? A society that lives in fear of interacting with each other? I hope not.

My ex-fiance quit the teaching profession altogether because of fear she would be accused of something.. anything. It doesn’t take much now. She eventually found work elsewhere, but with a drop in income. In other words, everything she worked hard for was thrown away, even though she cares a lot about children.. she was afraid. After all, she saw what happened to me. It didn’t take but someone’s statements to a police officer to have me thrown in jail for a weekend. It didn’t take much to have an entire town and a newspaper write horrible things about me that were not true. Of course, when the following Monday when the claims were finally investigated, my probation officer came to talk with me.. and then ordered my release from jail. The judge agreed. However, the person who made the statements never got into trouble.. and now SHE’s a school teacher. I never got any apologies from anyone, including the newspaper in my town. It would become a vicious pattern of suspicion on me for crimes i never committed and the small town rumor mill never stops.

But at least i’m in a big city where i am by far, not the only registrant. At least it isn’t a rumor mill here either. Newspapers only report on real stories.. not rumors here too.

Even as far back as the late 1980s, when I was in college, I learned about these potential pitfalls in a secondary ed class, which led me to drop the idea of becoming a high school band or choir teacher, as the threat was too great.

There’s also a guy in my church who has a friend of his who was a teacher until he flunked this one girl on an exam, and she retaliated by claiming that he had had sex with her. Thankfully for him, during the trial, he was able to prove that the girl was lying. The judge ordered her family to pay the teacher’s legal bills. But sadly, just because of the accusations alone, he can no longer teach, plus his wife left him, never mind the fact that the accusations were proven false.
