ELGIN — Backers of former state Rep. Keith Farnham of Elgin — who is facing federal charges alleging he had child pornography on his computers — had used his record “targeting predators” as a selling point on a piece of 2010 campaign literature. Full Article

Oh boy; here we go again. Another crusader for increasingly harsh and overreaching laws aimed at registrants busted for doing precisely what he has crusaded against; and I’m also sure a large part of his political career has been built upon this crusade. Let’s see how long it takes for this hypocrite to pass go and collect $200.00. He had to put up $4,500 for bail and is living at his condo where he shares a balcony with his neighbors who have a young child. He will probably get to keep his pension too.

Anyone remember Rep Foley! This was a HUGE insult to law and order and showed the hypocracy of our government.

It is good advice to heed the warning, Beware of the Zealot! People like Farnham, Walsh and others who write their versions of “tough on crime” laws eventually do get caught in their own trap. Those are not truly spiritual people, but rather hypocrites who punish others for their own sins. The Zealots in Christ’s time were forceful, aggressive agitators that condoned and encouraged violence against others who didn’t believe as they did. The Biblical Zealots ultimately met a violent end at the hands of Rome. The modern day zealots will also meet their Waterloo because of the laws they promote. Beware of those who speak loudest against registered citizens, they’re hiding something bad in their own lives.

Can’t say he didn’t know what the penalties were, he wrote them. I doubt it, but maybe this guy will realize that sexual deviency would be better treated as a mental health issue rather than piling harsher punishments as deterrent which doesn’t work.
