LA: Lafitte Police Department honored for sex offender arrest

Fisher Middle High students recently made a huge banner and a batch of fresh, homemade fudge brownies to say thank-you to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and to the Lafitte Police Department for their arrest of a sex offender. The banner, signed by 100 Fisher students, and brownies were personally delivered by five Fisher Middle students. Gee; sounds like this was one desperate hombre!!! Standing around talking to a friend of all things!!! Terrible!!! So he didn’t register; his bad, but this is another example of the press and cops playing it up for all it’s worth. What a shame the young ones even believe the lie; that this was a dangerous and desperate “predator.” I can just picture the first thing the cops doing is going to the closest school and convincing the kids there that they were in imminent danger; of course they called the local hard up for readers newspaper first.

The Hitler youth did the same things to the Jews.

Good grief! I’m not sure which element of this story is most UN-believable. The ‘Barney Fifesque’ response from the local police or the middle school kids deep respect for the police. Maybe the Mayor can add this cause celebre on the calendar as a holiday marked with parades and a picnic in the town square.

Gee, I should stop trying to work in this 100 degree heat and sit back in a cool room a do “reporting” . All you have to do is take an incident, surround it with a lot of urban myth, and you have a story. No need to look at anything but a police report and fill in the rest!

So, he committed the offense almost 20 years ago, and one time he fails to register. So, for 19 years, everybody knew his whereabouts with nothing happening in his community. Did he willfully not register, did he flee the country? Neither, I assume. This is the kind of stuff that really bothers me. Should the police not focus on other things, like catching the “real” criminals? The poor kids (and we want to protect them, right) are being tricked into believing that a person, who committed an offense 20 years ago is still dangerous. Nice job teaching them fear!
