The FBI’s new facial recognition system lets local police easily identify you. It will one day spot you from your iris, voice and the way you walk.
It’s called the FBI’s Next Generation Identification system, and the agency said it became fully operational Monday. The government expects the system’s database to house 51 million photographs by next year — and keep growing.
But it’s not just for the FBI. Police everywhere will be able to tap into the system. They’ll quickly ID fingerprints during a routine traffic stop — or look up a face while investigating a crime. Full Article
It’s this questionable use of technology aimed at the individual citizen that makes me not wan’t to be an american anymore. I suppose after your recognized a cop can just shoot you. There are many other reasons, including the dishonesty about the registry-justices that do not rule in favor of clear cut truth, and the plain stupidity of the average american. I want out. If I ever have a chance to escape this crap hole you can bet I will without a second thought.
Well… surely they will have in there the ..how many officers that just convicted for obstruction of justice …seven ..?..eight..?…the feds can head down the ‘5’ to that orange nixon courthouse and take a look at tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice there as well.
I am certainly trying to get the F out of this place once and for all also!
However, as long as they are doing bio-metric scans I have one orifice I will gladly show them and them tell them to kiss it while they are scanning it for their records to id me!
Maybe we can crop some of the mugshots used on those mugshot extortion websites’ advertising campaigns, submit them to a system to return the names.. of those individuals so we can notify them that their photos are being used for commercial purposes and assist them with obtaining legal council and suing the mugshot extortionists into oblivion.
This is a rather disturbing article. The future is here ! First, we had the internet and that has changed everyone’s lives ! Now , this new development is sure to get out of hand and perhaps one lawmaker may get out of hand: shopping malls? Public restrooms ? Theme parks? Movie theaters? Jobs ? Airports? It’s really a bit of an intrusion ! I think in the end, people will regret this. Even today, 19 years later/expunged/ summary probation , I wonder what shows up of I’m stopped by police? I’m still required to register , but all (1) charges dismissed/expunged ? I’m stopped at airports when re-entering the US , but always let on my way and I’ve visited Canada and Costa Rica without issues? Where do I fall ?
So if you are minding your own business, and happen to be walking by a bank while it is being robbed by someone else, and they catch you on a surveillance camera, you are going to be in an FBI database?
