Sex offender’s plan goes up in smoke

[Battle Creek Enquirer]

A convicted sex offender’s plan to open a business next to a toy store in downtown Battle Creek has hit a major stumbling block.

OK, I am a supporter of RC’s opening businesses without restrictions. However, RCs need to use common sense when we do stuff. We need to valuate our intention from a hysterical soccer mom’s perspective.

I’d say this guy is not very bright. If the person who owned the property denied him getting out of the lease, he’d be totally screwed. He’s damned lucky he was let off the hook this time with the lease. I hope he tries again, but taking a sane approach and in a far more suitable location than near where children regularly congregate. It’s a precaution he must take to avoid the NIMBY fear mongers who have nothing else better to do than ruin his business even before it opens it’s doors– like what happened here. Additionally, be better invest in some high tech cameras with online-backups as a layer of extra protection for himself and his business.

Anyone know how to leave a comment after the article? I click on “comments” and nothing happens.

The guy probably naively thought, like I often do, that isn’t this what the punishment and the treatment was all about? Rehabilitation, literally coming back into good habits. Now I can be a productive member of society and I can even be next to a toy store and not offend (I never was tempted by a toy store myself, so that one is hard for me to understand, but whatever…). WHAT DO THEY WANT FROM ME?
