A man who allegedly killed an acquaintance two days after being released from prison was sentenced to 75 years in prison by Circuit Judge Greg Nicholas on Thursday for his failure to register as a sex offender conviction from November.
Seriously?! FTR is deserving of more time than a whole host of crimes, including murder (for which he still faces trial)!?!? I have to imagine this will be adjusted upon appeal. The fact there even exists a “99 to life” term for FTR is beyond belief. Then again, it is AL…
Is anyone else confused by the article? Was he sentenced for registration violation or murdering his “aquantance” whatever the hell that means
I’m confused. Why was he given 75 years for FTR? I get the murder thing, but they haven’t even started prosecution for that. Does the state has compounding factors for such a sentence?
75 years for murder IF he is convicted would be warranted. 75 years is NOT warranted for a failure to register and should be cause for appeal.
Guess if one is going to get wisdom one might as well get understanding or who entices to prevent. Confusion is a bit lost in much of this registry entrapment. Many of these ordeals seem to be a good sanitarian act of evil or is the heart evil or just blind sighted.Guess all roads lead to Rome as they say even in court of political corruption. While a pardon was refused for early release authorities released him anyway although he was released by some error in the Corrections system. Sanitarian cover – up or system cover – up. Sounds like authorities are trying to cover their acts or actions. While murdering to out weigh registering or would it of been better to register than murder later in something as uneventful as this.
How is it even possible to give a sentence of 75 years for FTR???? How does the law even allow that???? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
Who believes the birth of Sex offender registration was not a plan to incarcerate again? I’d sure love to see statistics comparing convictions ( instances of ) real recidivism raw count and instances of convictions for FTR raw count. My hypothesis: the latter outweighs the former by 5x.
TAKE NOTE: I Find the most relevant information is missing i.e. the jurisdiction & date of the original sex crime, of which the article’s author makes no mention. Instead Armed Robbery is mentioned. This hints to the authors lack of effort but given it’s YAHOO!NEWS is in itself telling. IMO there is something else afoot here in this case. A. Parole board denies release in Aug., then reverses and grants in Sept of 20, B.+2daysfor bricks, C. then contacts and meets and does murder of ambigious “acquaintance” in a car.
The excuse by agent concerning “the law” was asserted (statute mandated release) in a state where state has ” civil commitment ” options …which would hold him until civil trial is disconcerting. Someone may have wanted this man on the street temporary for a reason. This story reminds me of the Eddie Murphy, Nick Nolte hit 48hrs. Yahooooo!

The Best practice is wherever you go to comply with their laws. It doesnt take much for a firestorm to get created if you’re caught on the 3rd tier when you’re supposed to be in the dayroom. Always communicate via EMAIL only! never call! I always email USDOJ since they will forward your email to the right person if they right person never answered your email or fax or letter to start with! it took me a week or more to get a answer but I CMA just to make sure. No sense in rotting jail for idiocy.! Facially give them what they want and laugh at them walking out the door! Of course helps to be in an exempted state.
