TX: FBI sting for an ‘experienced sadist’ who would be paid $6,000 to ‘break’ a young woman

Source: dailymail.co.uk 9/11/23

The California sommelier found guilty of flying to Texas to ‘break’ a young woman for sex work was living with a married couple and engaged in a three-way relationship where he’d openly sleep with and torment the man’s wife, sources tell DailyMail.com.

The 37-year-old married mother Ian Justin Ranney, 35, had been living with was too traumatized to discuss her own relationship with the now-convicted felon.

‘I have a family and I’m not interested in dredging anything more up,’ she told DailyMail.com.

DailyMail.com can also reveal that Ranney, a resident of San Mateo, had just gotten his ‘dream job’ at a nearby luxury resort Rosewood Sand Hill, sources told DailyMail.com, but put off his start date so he could take the trip to Texas last November.

He was never able to return to California after getting arrested outside a North Texas warehouse when he showed up with tools of torture including restraints, rope and batons.

Autistic 35-year-old man sentenced to 14 years in Federal prison in a sting in which he was offered $6000 to “dominate” an adult sex worker by an FBI agent. I’ve never seen anyone get this much time for a sting, especially one in which the FBI is offering a ton of money for something this bizarre. His restaurant co-workers admit that they don’t think he ever did anything like this, because he was at work all the time, and likely lied to the undercover agent about his experience. I’m just flabbergasted that 1. the government can offer people money for sexual activity and prosecute them for it, and 2. you can get 14 years, which in Western Europe is what murderers get, for a sting.

Daily Mail

The actual article this post sources from really reads to me like an entrapment case. The attempted kidnap charge is ridiculous because the fictional sex slave was already in the possession of the FBI agents conducting the sting therefore, he could not have technically conspired in kidnapping. How did that charge stick?

Aside from the CP possession he was not pursuing anything illegal – as scummy as the article depicts him in his personal and professional life. Of course, I’m not minimizing or glossing over CP charges – that alone is bad. But if this sting never occurred, he would’ve not have the means nor intent to kidnap on his own. The FBI sting basically did all the “prepping” of kidnapping a fictional 21-year-old sex slave before presenting it to this guy gift wrapped in a bow.

The fact is this guy was a wolf in sheep’s clothing and because he Came from California to commit these crimes them Texas boys cooked his ass

I knew this man VERY VERY well, and he absolutely was just as awful as the original articles are stating. He regularly tortured and victimized his partners. He stole from places he worked. Some of the details are off slightly, but I truly implore anyone here that thinks he’s innocent to rethink. Basically, he was an underground abuser who thankfully was so stupid that he got nabbed by the government. But I can tell you that he physically altered many people with his torture as well as affecting countless others with his emotional and psychological abuse.
