WASHINGTON — The operators of summer camps, daycare centers and volunteer groups that work with children are a step closer to gaining access to an FBI sex offender database that could be used for background checks on prospective employees and volunteers.
The U.S. Senate passed a bill backed by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer that would close a loophole in the background check system and authorize the FBI to provide the information to organizations that work with children. Full Article
“Senate passes Schumer-backed bill to open FBI sex offender database”
Again with the horrid Senator Schumer!

Look at this, the FBI is exploiting our info for monetary profit…This is just more proof that our criminal records and personal info is not easily accessible public records….
The bill passed by the Senate now moves to the House. The legislation requires organizations to pay a fee for the background checks, which would be conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice. Job applicants would be able to challenge the accuracy of their records with the FBI.
A loophole is an arrowslit in the government’s castle used to shoot arrows at RCs.
This law will not interfere with my life at at all as I have no desire to work at any of these places, but there is the slippery slop and there is the equal protection thing.
“Job applicants would be able to challenge the accuracy of their records with the FBI.”
Job applicants would have as much luck as a person who was wrongly placed on the no fly list.
….
I knew it wouldn’t be a Monday without fresh bad news to ruin the new week.
Hi,
Here is a story for you all…. I moved from Texas to a Midwestern state and was not required to register. Now the wonderful state of Texas put me back on the registry about 10 years later. So i was off the registry for over 10 years. However, in another story there will be a federal lawsuit filed in the next week challenging this. I will fill you in on this in the general comments later. I joined the Navy reserves in 2001 in Texas while on the registry, and left after two years and joined the Air Force Reserves. In 2007 started working for the U.S govt in three different agencies (Air Force Civilian, OSHA and VA) Now the VA had found the registered information. I had no clue Texas had placed me back on. So i challenged the FBI and there records division. Saying that i currently do not register and that information should be only if i actually register. So the FBI agreed and said the criminal history itself would show up. So the FBI redacted the registering information. The VA re-submitted it and they Hired me. i only worked for 4 months and left Wisconsin and went back to the other Midwestern state next to Wisconsin….
Anybody want to bet it passes the House on a voice vote?

@kari, thanks for your prompt response; I am also from texas. I could be an additional plaintiff if needed it. I have been off paper since 1997 and was retroactive added to registry for life in 2006. My offense involved a 17 yrs old when I was 18 and also involved alcohol.
