“The judge said the lifetime sex offender label was much more damaging, adding, quote, “Your life is over.””

Oh, but, hey, it’s not punishment after all. It’s like a membership to Price Club. [sarcasm]

“Your life is over.” In other words, not only is it worse than six years in prison, registration is virtually a death sentence. That’s a whopper of an admission from this judge.

Yes, that was my thought also when I read this article. If registration is not punitive then why the remark “Your life is over?

Thank you Judge Gary Lee for giving more proof that the registry is punishment. The more quotes like this the sooner the registry will fall.

This judge essentially told this man to do his best to kill a prison guard. If his life is over, then he has nothing else to lose and the only way to increase his status in life and prison is to promote from sex offender to murderer by killing a prison guard. What choice does he have? His life is over, right Judge Lee?

“Your life is over.”

They’re not even being coy about it anymore, people!

Yet registering is summarily deemed only “regulatory, civil and administrative…” and not punitive. YEAH, RIGHT.

Make no mistake.. the REAL prison sentence starts once you’re released.

It’s a living death. You die TWICE. Once when you register, then natural death.

Sigh….this fixes the underlying issues how?

Clearly this man committed a crime punishable by law and no one disputes that.. yet no matter what crime was committed, one should be able to serve his/her sentence and get out a FREE man to live life like any other man. Being on a law enforcement registry would be okay if public access were not allowed. I guess, like everything else in this country, money runs the show! Hey, we need someone with lots of money on our side!

Janice and other CR lawyers need to put this remark in their ammo bags…………..

@JANICE—–U AGREE?
