NY: New York releases some Level 3 sex offenders, houses them at Holiday Inn Express

[leoaffairs.com – 4/1/20]

Sex offenders in western New York have been released as part of the pandemic, with several currently being housed in a Holiday Inn Express.

The Level 3 offenders, who were released as part of the outbreak, have drawn the attention of local journalists, citizens and police officials alike, particularly in the town of Greece.

“Among the inmates known to be staying at the Holiday Inn Express are four registered sex offenders,” Sabrina Maggiore tweeted. “Three of whom are registered as level 3 sex offender and are deemed by New York courts as most likely to re-offend. All three of the level 3 sex offenders staying at the Holiday Inn Express have been convicted for the rape of minors.”

I can’t help but wonder what exactly the reasoning is that people can consider the state all-knowing and wise when it designates a registrant level 3, yet somehow incompetent when it decides to release those same registrants jailed on technical PO or registry violations.

@Dustin Gov. Cuomo has the right spirit and it shows that compassion. People are worried today about masks when they can wear a bandana or sew one together if thats the case. Mr. Cuomo is doing a humanitarian service. I could never understand this teir thing myself that people talk about.

Presumed innocent until proven guilty. So they are to presume that the person might make some sex offense in the future or some type of offense. Sounds like a catcher in the Rye ordeal to me. History repeating itself if one studys’ on being outcasted.

Some of these people that have expressed their protests about this issue are worried about the wrong things.

It’s like fearing that the sky is falling while ignoring that the ground is opening up underneath their feet…
