Australia: Up to 3 years in prison for not reporting a “belief of sexual offending against a child”

Source: lexology.com 7/7/21

In brief – important development in Queensland’s child protection laws will take effect in term three.

Recently, the Queensland Government, through the Criminal Code (Child Sexual Offences Reform) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2020 (Qld) (Amendment Act), has made several key amendments to the Queensland Criminal Code to provide greater protection to children from sexual abuse.

In particular, the Amendment Act will, from 5 July 2021:

  • make it an offence for any adult not to report a belief of sexual offending against a child by another adult to police; and
  • create an offence of failure to protect a child from child sexual offences which occur in an institutional context.

This is probably the most convoluted, self-conflicting piece of legislation I’ve ever read. I can’t wait to see how this law is implemented and the first time it’s prosecuted.

What a crock a shit! Now they want to put people in prison for a “maybe” ? The sooner this whole planet is destroyed the better. There is no hope for reason or common sense anymore. If I had the ability, I wouldn’t hesitate to push the button that ended it.

Also pending is a new law that mandates reporting of any thought or mental image, including those which are transitory but last longer than three seconds, which involve imagined sexual activity with, or unclothed image of, a minor or likeness resembling a minor.

(If you thought that was on the horizon, the horizon is closer than you thought!)

Today, I’m a tractor! 🤗

I “believe” this is their version of mandated reporting; except that it would apply to ordinary citizens, as well. Hmmm, is there a local QAnon chapter over there???

Oh I see how this will make vigilante cowards happy , watch how they rat pack together and just start reporting , It will back fire tho because now they will be “marks” at the drop of a dime when FTR’s find out who these skidmark cowards are, thay will definitely abuse this trash law !

Hmmm, 🤔 I wonder how many Romeo & Juliet relationships will be reported?? Wouldn’t those entail “sexual offending against a child by an adult”, even if it’s an entirely consensual relationship?

Wondering?
Will it be the defendant to prove their innocents or the law to prove guilt that will rule.

Australia is regressing back into the penal colony it once was on more than one front south of the equator. Very sad…
