Court Grants Partial Motion for Preliminary Injunction in SORNA Regulations Case

A federal district court today issued a decision granting, in part, a motion for preliminary injunction that was pending in the SORNA regulations case. A copy of the court’s decision is being posted today on the ACSOL website, however, ACSOL must wait until the Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) issues a press release before it publishes an article describing the court’s decision.

PLF  issued a press release regarding the decision on Wednesday, January 18.  A copy of that press release is posted here on the ACSOL website.

Pacific Legal Foundation was supposed to be issuing a press release by now, can you provide the link where we can read the 56 page court summary in the mean time?

Is a Certificate of Rehabilitation the same as receiving a petition granted through the tiered registry?
I would STRONGLY assume they are. didn’t they do away with them once SB 384 became law?

Where is the Press Release that was supposed to be posted on January 17th by PLA?

RE: The Preliminary Injunction in SORNA Regulations in US DISTRICT COURT CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA, case #EDCV 22-855 JGB (SPx), JESUS G. BERNAL, U.S. District Judge

How long do parties have to produce “the administrative record” and a “definitive accounting of every legal consequence” as requested by the judge? This case has been in limbo since January 13, 2023 (1 year, 7 months). Is there status report available for ACSOL supporters? If the DOJ continues to delay, does ACSOL have a plan to request a summary judgement?

The hope being that the temporary injunction is applied nationally and permanently.

The Supreme Court finally overturned the “Chevron Doctrine” (which allowed administrators to write and interpret their own laws). How big of an impact does this have on SORNA as it applies to this case?
