MS: Attorney To File Federal Lawsuit Over Black Child Arrested For Urinating In Mississippi

Source: huffpost.com 12/14/23

An attorney in Mississippi is preparing to file a federal lawsuit after a 10-year-old Black child was arrested and sentenced to a three-month probation for urinating in public.

Police in Senatobia, Mississippi, arrested a third grader who urinated outside his mother’s car in August. The child’s mother, Latonya Eason, was in a meeting in a nearby building when an officer came inside and told her that he’d seen her son relieving himself. Eason told HuffPost she then went outside to ask her son why he’d done that, and his sister replied that a bathroom hadn’t been available.

More officers arrived at the scene moments later, Eason said. The officer who witnessed the child urinating initially did not want to arrest him, according to Eason, but a lieutenant advised him to. Police took the child to a cell inside of a precinct, and Eason said they questioned him without her present.

When Eason arrived at the precinct, she said the police “did not take me where my baby was.”

“It was taken way too far and out of hand,” she said. “It should have never happened. That first officer that made contact with him, saw him do it, allowed him a break and that should have been that. It really did not take four more officers to pull up. I mean, he is only 10 years old.”

All I can say is: REALLY!!??

How ridiculous. Poor kid, taking a whiz and now on probation. Gee, I wonder what his world view of LE will be for the rest of his life now. All police involved in this decision should be fired and sued. I hope this case goes viral to showcase their back-woods, racist mentality.

Unflippen’-believable these cops. That LT should be run out of town, banned from working in LE and forbidden to be around children or where children congregate. Slap his mug and address on a public registry of LE who abuse children under the color of authority. Give this living monument to tyranny the social death penalty he deserves.

Not to my surprise, racism is still very much alive in the south.

Absurd, totally and absolutely absurd. Millions of boys his age do this every year?…month?…week?…Day? Are we going to arrest them all?

The idea that this is racially motivated cannot be ignored. If this boy was white, would he have been arrested? There is no good answer to that question. If no, then this is racist. If yes, this is just more absurd policing.

At maximum, the Mother should have received a small fine for her, “Lack of supervision”. That is at maximum, which is totally unnecessary IMO.

Possiblity this boy could have ended up a PFR for this? Not sure what the laws regarding public urination registration are in MS. Some people have been registered for this, just not sure if any of them were from Mississippi. Mississippi has a reputation for being pretty draconian on most issues, so wouldn’t surprise me this kid could have been required to register for this.

Everyone involved should be fired. At best, this is a waste of time and money. At worst, this is a very clear case of racial discrimination.

It will be interesting to see what angle they use for a Fed lawsuit.

All this crap has to stop that’s absolutely ridiculous. What 10-year-old kids do not pee outside , geez, that is absolutely unbelievable.. maybe they ought to arrest the cop for watching him pee like a peeping Tom

This world is insane. First, the officer didn’t want to arrest him but was forced to by his supervisor. Second, the kid is 10 and if you gotta go, you gotta go. I don’t know how many times when I was his age and we were on a family trip to my grandparent’s farm that my dad stopped the car on the side of the road so I could hop out and relieve myself in the ditch. There’s nothing sexual about it at all. Its being human. Hell, even as an adult I stopped on the side of the road once because I had to take a dump and I walked into some woods on a country road and took care of business.
My opinion in this matter is if it was only the officer who saw him do it, and no one else complained, the cop should have either ignored it or simply told the kid to next time to find a restroom. There was no need to call it in and certainly no need for back up to arrive.
Just plain stupid of the cop, and a lack of compassion and understanding.

The more I think about this, the more I believe the Guvnah, AG, DA office, the judge, and head of the cop shop there should be called, emailed, and messaged with messages of disgust over this entire situation. It is embarrassing from the Guvnah on down to the individual cops themselves and for the entire state of MS itself.

A national cry of disgust towards them right before Christmas should be a good lump of coal for their stockings. They can ruin a young lad’s life right now, or at least his childhood, with this stupidity. The prosecutor needs to be put on notice their lack of thinking when they have discretion should be considered whenever they want to make another mtn out of something that is not worthy of any attention. Drop the damn charges. He knows to hold it until he cannot anymore and then let it go where he sits!

I am sure they are all on social media and can be found otherwise for contacting.

F this country. Who did this child harm? Europeans must think we are f_ing idiots.

Oh boy, good old Carlos Moore. He fashions himself to be Johnny Cochrane reincarnate; his cases routinely get bounced.

I guess folks on here didn’t catch the “subtle” message law enforcement is sending by requiring the boy write a two page report about Kobe Bryant, another black man railroaded into a sex charge by a rape allegation from a white women. These cops are trying to send a warning to this little boy. And people say the south isn’t anymore racist than the rest of the country….pleease!
