Parents in Kansas were outraged to learn a registered sex offender was allowed to attend a school dance, and even take photos and video of the children.
The Sole Mate Dance for students in Grades 1 through 6 was held at Blue River Elementary School in Overland Park, Kansas, where the unidentified man made his way to the edge of the dance floor, pointing his cellphone’s camera in the direction of students, parents told the Johnson County Post.
They told the media outlet that they recognized the man, who pleaded guilty in 2011 to having and sharing child pornography and went to jail before getting supervised release.
…
But Blevins said the sex offender had received permission to be at the school function due to his “functioning parental relationship” with a student or students at the event, and a Blue Valley School District spokesperson added that no laws were violated.
Parents were shocked, arguing that the convict should be nowhere near children.
So they are worried about the person taking pics of Clothed children dancing. Well then, simply ask if he would consent to the school viewing the photos for content. If the parents want their children omitted from said photos or vids, then request he do that. The guy would likely consent to it. See folks? Not that hard. But no, instead you make the assumption without merit that he is going to somehow photo shop the children nude or something. Ridiculous and another case of over reaction. Proving once again that having children makes many people stupid.
Oh my God! He pointed his camera toward the children on the dance floor. Anyways, my main question: Why is this story in the Toronto Sun? What do Canadians care about what happens in Kansas. Canada doesn’t even make public the names of people on the registry. It’s like this story is a wet dream for Canadians who want their registry to be the same as the good ole USA ✌️
What about the people who might have taken pictures of the children dancing that may have disgusting motives? The guy committed a crime back in 2011 and if the school considered him a threat he wouldn’t have had permission. Kansas should be more concerned with TB than a PFR.
