NC: Controversy sparked about investigation after Bikers Against Predators come to High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — “Why didn’t you do more?”

That is the question being asked of the High Point Police Department.

It comes after a video online shows a group from Indiana, known as Bikers Against Predators, confronting a man in High Point for allegedly talking with what he thought was an 11-year-old girl online, but it was really a decoy from the organization.

The nearly one-and-a-half-hour video was filmed on Facebook Live on Saturday afternoon. It now has over half a million views. Bikers Against Predators are upset that police did not take the man’s phone, arrest him or even get the evidence they had.

“We don’t need recognition for the case or anything like that. We just want to make sure that a guy like this that is truly a danger to that community is going to be at least investigated,” said Robert Bloom with Bikers Against Predators.

High Point Police Chief Curtis Cheeks said in a statement that the department is investigating and did collect evidence.

“I think it is a little too late,” Bloom said.

He said they have more evidence police have not taken. The statement from High Point police went on to say: “It is our duty to handle all investigations lawfully and appropriately. Once a potential crime is reported, our officers must evaluate several factors, including available evidence, to determine whether charges are appropriate or if further investigation is needed.”

🤔 So these idiots rode all the way from Indiana to North Carolina to make their video and catch this alleged predator. The questions are endless!
No one closer to home?
No idea what police/prosecutors might actually need as evidence?
And “we don’t need recognition for the case”? Well, apparently, you do! Otherwise, why ride 900 miles to make the video??
Sorry, but they just strike me as unthinking boneheaded dummies, as Fred Sanford might say. 😒

Seriously, just go collect toys for Christmas or whatever. 🙄

I wish the press would stop calling them “investigations.” They’re set-ups. Period.

I wonder if it is a crime when a person only thinks they are about to commit a crime but actually aren’t because they are being set up to think that.

It isn’t really an attempt to commit a crime if the crime is fake.

“We don’t need recognition for the case or anything like that.”

Really? Because it sure as h*ll looks like you were! Cowards and liars. Pathetic.

This biker group is pure white trash.

The actions of the progenitors of the scheme (the bikers) who travelled across state lines to confront an individual (that they had enticed) could potentially lead to federal criminal liability FOR THE BIKERS, depending on their conduct once they confronted the subject. Here are some considerations:

  1. Harassment or Stalking: If the confrontation involves aggressive behavior, intimidation, or harassment, it could violate federal laws against stalking or harassment, particularly if it crosses state lines.
  2. Interference with Interstate Commerce: If the confrontation disrupts interstate commerce or involves threats or violence, it could fall under 18 U.S.C. § 1951 (Interference with Commerce by Threats or Violence).
  3. Conspiracy or Attempt: If the bikers are perceived as attempting to engage in or further illegal acts (even if their intent is to expose a sexual predator), they could be charged under 18 U.S.C. § 371 (Conspiracy).
  4. State vs. Federal Jurisdiction: Many of these actions may also be subject to state laws, which can vary significantly. Federal charges might be invoked if the actions have a broader impact or involve crossing state lines.

While the intent to identify and confront sexual predators may not inherently constitute a federal crime, the manner in which they conducted themselves at the confrontation could lead to legal issues, especially if it involves intimidation or aggressive tactics.

The central question is then “Was there any intimidation or aggressive tactics used by the bikers once they confronted the subject?”. If so, it could be argued that their “scheme” continued and included the “confrontation” and therefore, COULD be considered a criminal conspiracy.

Bikers for Predators are pretending to be children to lure adults into sexual conversations. Are they in this organization to fulfill their sick fantasy? If they really are concerned about children why not become a real detective and not pretend to be one online for clicks. What happens if they catch someone with nothing to lose and all hell breaks?

Is it just me, or do all these “………..against Predators” somehow always originate from the midwest. I seldom hear of this happening in Vermont, or Oregon, or Pa., or California. Only these rural bible thumping areas that seem to have nothing better to do but ride around on motorcycles, thinking of ways to stay busy. How about “Bikers for a cleaner environment”, or “ Bikers against sending your daughters out looking like internet sluts at 15 yrs old”. Here’s one, “ Bikers against leaving empty beer cans, whiskey bottles and pot blunts in public parks after you’ve partied there all day”.
