PALM BAY, Fla. – There is a major victory for a Central Florida city looking to impose tougher restrictions on sex offenders.
Palm Bay’s sex offender ordinance has been debated many times at city hall. Some say it puts too many restrictions on sex offenders, but Friday an appellate court released a ruling saying the ordinance does not violate offenders’ constitutional rights. Full Article
Well, ex post facto laws are always and everywhere illegal. Moreover, segregation is illegal, and this is an effort to re-segregate, only this time based on legal status not on race.
People should make every effort not to re-offend. If they screw up and re offend then they should be arrested. Aside from that, they should work on rehabilitating themselves: a place to live, a steady income, and supportive relationships. The voters and the politicians, in their foolishness, and compulsive lack of wisdom, should resist the urge to meddle in this process.
I’m sad to hear about struggles for any individual, but like with anything when the topic hits close to home the empathy meter is at an all time high. I feel bad for the registered citizens in Florida. It makes me feel fortunate to have people like Janice and the good people at CA RSOL on our side. It also makes me feel better about staying in California.
Man how are these laws being upheld in Florida.
