MILWAUKEE — A registered sex offender will be allowed to see his son at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, but the fight for visitation isn’t over yet.
Suffering in pain and severely ill, Kahlil Yates, 9, wants nothing more than to be comforted.
“He can’t understand why I can’t be there all the time,” said Stuart Yates.
Stuart Yates, 49, was forced to leave his sick son’s bedside on March 6 after he was kicked out of Children’s Hospital — told he had to leave because he was a registered sex offender.
“I’ve been a full-time dad and husband for the last 20 years. I paid my debt to society and my son shouldn’t have to pay for it,” said Stuart Yates.
These people trying to keep this poor, sick baby from seeing his daddy are sick, evil scum! This is sick!!!
This man should be able to be with his child as long as any other parent at that hospital. End of story!!!
I’ve been to a lot of hospitals and I’ve never been questioned or required ID to enter any part of the hospital. Most hospitals have limited staff and security, so I don’t think many hospitals want to deal with this issue or it’s added expense. I was visiting a friend at a large hospital a week ago for two days and it is so large that I got lost many (MANY) times. I passed many areas that were for children and I was never questioned. In fact I was hardly able to find anyone that could provide me with directions. I only mention this since I find it shocking that some hospitals have the staff to conduct background checks on visitors. And it’s very heartless. I wouldn’t trust my child at a hospital that didn’t put the needs of a sick child above some worthless policy. Although any hospital that denies a parent’s rights should be sued, I wonder if we could just try to make sure our child does not go to those hospitals? I know that it may not always be possible, but if we had a list of these bad hospitals to avoid, maybe that would be best for the child.
I would be most curious about what St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital policies were on this issue and also what Ronald McDonald’s House policies are. Does anyone know?
This father needs to have a guard assigned to him in order to visit his severely ill child? For only 2 hrs a day? And ONLY if he notifies the hospital a day in advance?
WTF do they think he’s going to do while sitting beside his sick child?
This man is being punished. Doesn’t matter if the hospital is allowed to punish him or not (because it is a private institution), He Is being Punished!
If he was a corporate billionaire or high government official who caused the poisoning of whole communities of children, no problem. Roll out the red carpets.
