My bet is that they are just gonna buy new cars and hire a few more people.

It’s an election year so the ones who have political goals are using registered people for their gains.

More money going to the wild goose chase, or rather the roving sex offender myth chase. This is just another excuse to create more high paying law enforcement jobs and government contracts. I would rather they just take the money and give people a living wage, spend it as they choose, than create these jobs that have the collateral effect of keeping the registrant population in danger and unemployed.
I know people get tired of the Nazi analogy, but this is like what 1930’s Germany did to reinvigorate its economy. I mean, they identified groups of people to be afraid of and then developed a police state economy to contain these people and pump money into the businesses it served. It is not sustainable, though, because it breeds conflict with grows and expands beyond borders. We are already seeing that with immigrants and racism and the IML. Of course, no one cares about registrants, so we will see more of this spending to keep us with our terrifying 1% re-offense rate “contained”.

LOL! That’s hilarious! Do you have any idea how NOT-FAR-AT-ALL $24,000 goes in government spending!? Hah! The State’s budget for paper clips is probably double that amount!! And as for an actual staff person, $24k might get you 10 hours a week from a part-time clerk!
Yeah, you go Frederick County Sheriff’s Office – you’re rolling in the money now! Haha!!
