WASHINGTON — Often, as the homemade videos begin streaming across the computer screen, unwitting children appear holding homemade placards bearing the pseudonyms of the macabre films’ makers.
The makeshift message boards represent claims of credit for the ghastly images that follow: children, some pleading for help, being sexually abused in torturous ways by parents, relatives or others. Among the worst: infants used as toys for the videographers’ and viewers’ sexual gratification. Full Article
Ok, another inflammatory sensational article;
Lets hear the other side of the story. Below is the introduction from the site that put this up online. It’s a long read but very informative and could be disturbing to some but provides some thought provoking insights.
While writing The Hebephilia Conspiracy, I noticed a stray file that I didn’t recognize called “mister_x” in the site directory. It wasn’t linked to on the site anywhere, and when I opened it, I realized that I had forgotten to post it previously! This is a REPRINT (I did NOT write the actual content) of an article from Wikileaks.org written by an anonymous individual who was deeply involved in the real child pornography industry overseas (not the faux “massive kiddie porn rings” we’re misled to believe exist in the United States) and it’s a very interesting read, particularly from a computer science and criminology point of view. It shows that with the correct combination of identity theft, encryption, onion routing, and fraud, a criminal organization can easily render itself invincible. All accounts lead back to identity theft victims; real servers are masked by encrypted onion routes through intermediaries; and everything is paid for with stolen credit card information and anonymous payment methods. Also discussed is the flip side of “child pornography” which you’ll have to read about yourself, and then decide how you feel. I won’t spin it one way or the other for you.

Very sad when one of the suspects admitted to being lonely, and “finally found a home” among the illicit distributors and other abusers. This speaks more of a need to highlight the problem and nip it at its emotional source.
Criminalizing such activity is necessary and will always be top priority, but making it the ONLY priority is not only abusive on the offenders, but creates the opportunities for more and more children to be victimized.
It is impossible for the problem to dissipate when only criminalization is pursued. Imagine drug or alcohol laws without treatment to prevent such abuse in the first place, and you have the mindset of the current state of child pornography issues and enforcement.
