OKLAHOMA CITY – Thousands of Oklahoma sex offenders could soon have free reign on the internet after a federal appeals court ruled it’s a 1st amendment violation to monitor their online activity. Right now, most sex offenders in our state are not allowed to use the internet.
The recent ruling was on a California case, but it’s expected that the federal court that oversees Oklahoma cases will likely review it and make a similar ruling. Full Article
It’s been said that ignorance breeds fear, and I fully agree. That being said I hope the “concerned” ones in that state have many sleepless nights and unsettled days, and when the truth becomes obvious I truly hope they feel and look as foolish as they really are.
It would appear that once again that truth is going to transcend lies. Hooray for our side!
“Some parents think they shouldn’t have to take these precautions.”
OK, so let’s also not require parents to provide child car seats for their children. Way too inconvenient. Let’s just lock up anyone for life who has ever been the cause of an accident. Problem solved. Oh no, it appears most injuries to children are caused by parents, friends or relatives. OK, so lock them all up, damn it. You got to lock up someone, because I’m soooooo mad.
Most registered citizens in California already have full access to the internet. Does anyone recall seeing news articles stating there have been any bad results from this? I haven’t seen any, and if there had been some, I feel certain the media would have trumpeted it all over the place.
If people in Oklahoma truly are worried about this sort of thing, let them make use of parental controls, as the article suggests.
The “throw away the key” comment is real telling about the true intent behind all these registration laws.
I use to be proud to be an Oklahoman before I was forced to move out of state.Oklahoma is simply going to imprison itself because of lies and false accusations.Unless a person has a bank account then your not an Oklahoman. Now,I can use the internet, live anywhere I want etc…Some states are alot smarter than Oklahoma and I am glad I moved.I pray for sex offenders who are wrongfully convicted because of financial status.
