Longtime Carson City Attorney Bill Wynder leaves post to do missionary work

Carson >> To say it’s not easy serving as Carson’s city attorney is an understatement. But the position’s importance, though largely behind the scenes, can’t be overstated — particularly because political dramas, lawsuits and ethics investigations are common in this town.  …  Earlier this year, all five council members ordered him to take on the California Supreme Court when that body ruled that local laws restricting the movement of sex offenders were unconstitutional. The council disagreed, and told Wynder to fight to protect its ordinance that requires registered sex offenders to remain 300 feet from identified “child-safety zones” though he warned it could be a waste of taxpayer’s funds since the city is unlikely to prevail.  Full Article

We wish Mr. Wynder well on his newly chosen path. In the absence of Mr. Wynder, the City of Carson may or may not change its position on fighting the judiciary which wisely determined that sex offender ordinances such as the ordinance adopted by that city are preempted by state law. If the City of Carson does not change its position, the pending lawsuit in state court for breach of contract and fraud will be pursued with vigor in order to protect the Constitution and recognize the separation of powers.

I spend a lot of time in Carson. I live a mile away. My nephew lives in Carson. One of my high school friend’s father is a member of the city council. That same friend is a Godparent to my brother’s son (the one who stays in Carson). I hope my friend’s dad isn’t backing the ill conceived ordinance.

The City of Carson should be encouraged to continue their disregard for sound legal counsel. Their Disregard had encouraged this fine attorney to move on. Taking on the California Supreme Court over a registered citizen’s right to live with their family anywhere they choose is not just moronic but will also prove costly.

After someone (registered sex offenders) has gone through the GRINDER of probation, therapy and time served they should have the rights of everyone else… Not to allow such is Evil and Wrong. TRUTH
