PA: Montco senator’s bill would remove sex offender registration requirement for custody crimes

[Bucks County Courier Times – Pennsylvania]

After ____ ____ stole an SUV that was left idling in the parking lot of a Bristol Township convenience store, he quickly learned an 11-year-old passenger was in the backseat.

Once the boy made his presence known, ____ pulled over and let him out before driving away, according to court records in the 2009 crime.

The boy wasn’t hurt. ____ was arrested and later pleaded guilty in Bucks County Court to charges including theft, receiving stolen property and interference with custody of children.

The custody offense is the only reason the Philadelphia man is a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania.

The man committed an obvious crime, even kidnapping in a way, but to have this charged as a sex offense? Who came up with that brilliant code? It’s like they sat down and tried to figure out the worst thing they can do to a person in a situation like this and slapping them with a life time sex offender was the best option because they couldn’t justify locking someone up for a long time but this one is easy since it’s not “punitive” but in many ways actually worse than prison.

I’m not religious, but times like this makes me wish I was so that I had some real belief that these self-serving politicians will get theirs in the next life. Because they certainly don’t get any punishment for ruining the lives of millions of people, including actual victims of sex crimes, in this one.

So they are removing crimes that have no sexual intent or component at all from being called “Sex Offenses”?

Wow…they are smart ones there aren’t they?

Do they also give speeding tickets to people that litter?

Political experiments like this need to stop by those elected officials who think, but don’t really know, they are doing good. Do the homework before passing a law like this.

And the various State officials wonder why the courts are seeing the registries as punishment…

So the Registry is, apparently, “punishment” being applied to some non-sexual offenders? Is that it??
(And, per the article, one guy shot his estranged wife in the head! A guy who shot his wife in the head should not be on a registry, but I should be?? WTF??!!)
