MO: Missouri’s dubious export: Sex offenders

Missouri treats all sex offenders living outside of prison as harshly as some states punish their highest-risk sexual predators.

Missouri’s one-size-fits-all approach sends hundreds of sex offenders to Kansas, Illinois and Arkansas. Just across the state line, some find relief from the 1,000-foot residency restrictions. Others even end the shame of public registry. Full Article

It’s a lengthy article that covers a lot of ground, but it’s not difficult to identify the not-so-subtle biases and inferences. Such as:
“Sex offenders do shop around,” said Paula Stitz, who runs the State Sex Offender Registry for the Arkansas Crime Information Center. “It’s been my experience and the experience of other state-level managers. I had actual telephone calls and them telling me that they are shopping around.” And so what?? If you were anyone else considering relocating (e.g., school teacher, surgeon, retiree, etc), wouldn’t you look for a place that offers the best quality of life?
“Sex offenders move around all the time. That’s what they do. The challenge is to keeping up with them,” she said. That’s what “they” do?? “They” are the only people who move around?? Other people don’t? Granted, it’s a pity that she’s so challenged by trying to keep up with those scary alley-pee-ers and high school Romeos.
“A Columbia Missourian investigation has uncovered consistent migration patterns out of Missouri by analyzing the Missouri State Highway Patrol records.” Seriously, they wasted time investigating if people frequently move to placed where they feel less constrained and oppressed? Will they next investigate whether water flows downhill?
Well, the article goes on, but I think you get my point.

The article says that many Missouri registrants migrate to other states because of Missouri’s harsh registration requirements. It also says some have even migrated to Mexico. I wonder how they managed that, and how recently.

Arkansas residential information is not as detailed, going only up to a block level.

“I think legislators’ thinking in that was that if the public knows where the exact address is, there would be some type of harassment,” Stitz said.

Wow, Arkansas is the state that realized that listing everyone to their exact address would cause harassment? I now take back everything I ever thought about that state.

Such a reaction reminds me of the old adage, ..fight or flight. He could have used his right to trial in registration cases. It is aweful……cathartic. Believe me when I tell you the DA will pick what he thinks is low hanging fruit. But not if you are honest! One can make serious headway with the jury (aka ) of one incriminate the RAw political motivation to get reelected . State’s position hinges on HUMANS DON’T LEARN. To presume that as fact defies natural law. It is possible to call witnesses in your defence. If you live in a state with a history of vigilantes call one convicted to the stand. Expose its purpose by the people by comparing it to US hietory. It is not the first time a fickle public has been fooled. DATABASE indeed, if one has been removed from FB one could subpoena Mr. Suckerville of FB fame. Attention Wal-Mart shoppers who’ve sold out to east Asia econmy. Yea I am guilty of that but no more. Evidence itself about how much modern US society cares about survival. Women demand the right to abortion of potential Americans. They have it. A man touches.or looks…life! Thanks Oprah, Bill, Mr. Rehnquist, Ms. O’Connor, and especially Mr. Scalia, Mr Roberts. Mr. Thomas is one of us :(. No wonder he remains silent.

Best of days to come my friends to be sure. Soon we throw the yolk of repression.
