Nigeria: NAPTIP Launches Sex Offenders Register To Name And Shame Rapists

[channelstv.com – 7/28/19]

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP) has announced plans to launch a sex offender register to name and shame rapists and offenders of other forms of violence against persons.

According to the Director General of NAPTIP, Julie Okah, the implementation of the register is aimed at putting an end to all forms of violence against persons in private and public life, and to provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders.

“The spate of this mindless abuse of children, rape and other forms of violence against persons has assumed an alarming dimension and concerted efforts must be made to minimise the development.

“By the end of this month (July), we are going to be launching the sex offenders register. This register is going to name and shame all the rapist in Nigeria.”

At least they are calling it what it really is: a “Punishment” and “Name and Shame” scheme instead of disguising it as a “public safety tool”.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, it must be a duck. As Catherine Carpenter said, “stop telling me it’s not a duck!”

But when will they register all the Nigerian Prince’s that are offering foolish Americans millions of dollars if they just pay a transfer tax and provide their banking information?

Wait… The country in Africa that DID NOT outlaw slavery until 1950 (and STILL keeps track of who is descended of slaves for social ostracization purposes… Their very own “Jim Crow”) is concerned about trafficking?!

It’s things like this that convince that this is the old Superman Comics bizarro world.

Poor uninformed and ignorant woman(General Director of NAPTIP Julie Okah)! Doesn’t she realize that the BIG SECRET that upholds KEEPING UP THE REGISTRY is that it’s not punishment, doesn’t cause shaming, hatred, nor job difficulties?????????????????????????Looks like she wasn’t smart enough to read between the victims advocates FINE LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job Julie
