Repeat and high-risk sex offenders would be banned from the MTA tranist system under a new law proposed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The NYPD announced support for the ban when Cuomo suggested it in March of 2019. The ban would apply to offenders for three years and blocks them from the subway, bus and rail systems.
“MTA riders deserve to feel safe, and we have an obligation to ensure they will not be targeted by sex offenders,” Gov. Cuomo said Tuesday. “Enough is enough. If we want our public transit system to improve, we need balance between someone’s right to access public transit and the riders’ right to safety, which is why I am proposing a three-year ban from the MTA transit systems as a penalty for individuals who repeatedly engage in this abhorrent behavior.”
Meanwhile, due to very flawed attempts by inept politicians like Cuomo politicizing “criminal justice reform,” in NY grab and dash shoplifting at retail stores with mobs grabbing thousands of dollars of merchandise and running out is epidemic. Now shoplifting, openly using drugs, breaking into cars and other such “annoying” crimes are not troubling enough to those who sit in ivory towers. So prosecutors, in attempts to lower incarceration stats, are no longer being bothered with prosecuting such pettiness.
Somebody’s been watching too much Law & Order SUV
So RCs there who can’t afford cars and must rely on public transit will have yet another hurdle. Brilliant.
It does say repeat/high risk RCs only, but as we’ve seen when it comes to policies affecting us, mission creep is inevitable.
There is something really bad in the water in NY that these Democrats and Rhino Republicans are drinking, their minds have decade terribly.
