Several law-enforcement agencies Dec. 2 conducted unannounced checks of 40 registered sex offenders in Delaware County, finding that a high percentage were in compliance with their residential registration.
During the survey, only one was found not in compliance with Ohio’s rules for registered sex offenders.
“”One goal of the survey was that it be unexpected, he said, so that word could not spread among the sex offenders, giving them time to return to their registered residences.””
they act like we are out there trying to hunt for prey! I also noticed in the article they stated that the feds help them cover overtime charges. It’s amazing how much effort they put in to make sure that PFR’s are following the rules. Maybe they should put that effort into getting drunk drivers off the road. Oh snap, did I say something that would be productive!?
Wait. So the article said a high percentage were in compliance, then said only one wasn’t. That more than a high percentage, that’s pretty much everyone! I noticed they didn’t say what the discrepancy was. Probably such a minor infraction that it didn’t matter or they would have made it a big deal.
I also like how the sheriff said that it was an unannounced “survey”, like the word survey makes it somehow better than residency check. He somehow thought that by announcing it, that PFRs would “run back to their residences”. He seems to think registrants are secretly living in other areas but keep homes just for the “surveys”. Wonder how much of the community’s tax dollars were spent on that failed fiasco, although it does prove that a “ high percentage” are law abiding.
Why is this a surprise? Are they really that lame?
What a way to spin this news article about a costly and wasteful multi-agency compliance search which reaped only a nothing burger into “oh look how committed law enforcement is for our public safety”.
SORNA in general is a big multi-agency grifting game to fool people into thinking that the Registry prevents sex crimes (Truth bomb – it does not) so these fat cops will continue to get paid and lazy politicians will stay re-elected.
Meanwhile Constitutional crimes are being committed against a segment of our society by these multi-agencies because we are convenient scapegoats for all of society’s fears and hatreds thanks to misinformation from the government and mass media.
The Registry is insane. End insanity. End the Registry.
Sure, it’s nice for folks to post a comment here…… But PLEASE also post a response/comment on the article’s TCD website!

“This operation shows our commitment to the safety of our community by making sure those who are required to comply with offense-registration laws are regularly monitored.”
So in other words, its like parole or probation, which is part of a punishment. Why else would PFRs be “monitored”?
