Action Alert for CA: Time to Sign Up for Lobby Day in Sacramento on March 21

It’s time to sign up for Lobby Day in Sacramento on March 21.  You can use the link below to let ACSOL know that you will participate.  There is no fee required to participate and, in fact, there will be free parking, free coffee and even a free lunch.

Please park in the parking lot of the Hyatt Hotel located at 1209 L Street as long as your vehicle fits in that lot.  Get a parking ticket and ACSOL will reimburse you for the full amount.

Training will begin in the Hyatt Hotel on March 21 at 8:30 a.m. and coffee will be served during the training.  After the training, teams of individuals will be created that include at least three people — a registrant, a family member of a registrant and a support professional (psychologist, attorney, etc.).

Teams will eat lunch together at a nearby restaurant and then walk to the building for pre-arranged meetings with legislators and legislative staff.  The legislature requires individuals to wear a mask during those meetings and masks will be provided upon request.

Following the meetings with legislators and staff, dinner at a local restaurant will be available during which individuals can discuss their lobbying experiences.  We hope to see you there!

Do former registrants qualify?

ACSOL and Lobby Day Volunteers: I will be with you in spirit from Illinois!

Is it mandatory to have a family member and a therapist to attend as I’m reading this? Been on registry for 15 years, eligible to be removed in 5 year’s. Willing to volunteer as an option. This is an important event, and I would like to participate or help in any way possible.

We (my husband and I) are signed up! Looking forward to learning how to lobby and making our voices heard! We reached out to one of our State Senator, so will reach out to the other. Thank you for putting up the lookup tool for our representatives in the sign up page!

With all due respect to Janice Bellucci, I believe that ACSOL is making a serious mistake!
One cannot play ball with those who are subverting the very constitution of the United States (in order to perpetuate a hated and feared scapegoat class)!

These legislators continue to foment government-sponsored hatred at the cost of their own citizens, with no clinical or rational basis other than fear!

We do not need a sex offender management board. Instead, we need to abolish all registries in their entirety! The registry is a repugnant stain on this nation that reeks of fascism! It is exactly what the most infamous fascists (like the Nazis, the Ssoviets and the communist Chinese) used, and continue to use, against their own citizens!

I am not a “sex offender”! (althouogh I am a registrant)
And I don’t need to be “managed”!

Thank you, kindly, for posting this dissenting viewpoint.

I signed up to Lobby on March 21st. Will I get a confirmation notice soon?

Don’t know if the subjects to discuss have been solidified, but would like to add one.
Consider making failure to register a fine rather than a imprisonable offense. Europe does this in many of the countries since they consider this an administrative violation. In Germany it is approx 300 Euros if you are on their registry and miss your appointment. Like not paying a traffic ticket. Then if the PFR can’t pay, then they have the option of serving a jail sentence. The constant compounding of yrs on the registry for administrative infractions is absurd. The damn thing isn’t going away, no matter how many lawsuits and letters are written. How about we chip away at the edges.

I look forward to attending this year’s Lobby Day! ACSOL’s Lobby Days have always been interesting, informative and valuable for making community connections!

And maybe one future day, we can add to our lobbying efforts amending the California State Constitution to include “the right to social reintegration.*”

*Found here: Mexico: Court closes to the public registry of sex offenders of the CDMX

Is there anyone going from San Diego to SAC and BACK that can give a ride ?

When will we know how the meeting with CASOMB went today? I’m so nervous.

Unfortunately the weather forecast on
Lobby Day for Sacramento is cold and wet. A high of 50 degrees and 90 percent chance of rain. If you will participate in Lobby Day bring a rain coat and an umbrella.

Is there anyone going from Los Angeles get a ride with? My Amtrak got canceled.

Last minute donation sent.
Have a happy, favorable, blessed day to everyone that turns out and all that made it happen.
