So after the Menendez Brothers re-sentencing thing, could we ask to be re-sentenced?

Could that lead to removal from the registry?

I’ve also wondered, would being exonerated years later remove you from the registry? Being on the registry seems to be decoupled from the criminal side (since it’s a ‘civil obligation’ or whatever they call it) so maybe it wouldn’t remove you. I mean, getting your case expunged via 1203.4 is supposed to be a withdrawal of the conviction and the charges being dismissed, yet the registry remains.

The MLB has recently removed all permanently banned players from the Hall of Fame exclusion list once they have died.

Odd. The MLB can do that and admit the banishment shouldn’t linger beyond death. Hey, Florida, maybe it’s time you do the same thing with those deceased registrants still on the roll.

More fear mongering by the govt and others…

As much as I am not a fan of the current President, would it be possible to go directly to him for a request to stop adding time to sentences ? When the laws started to add extra registry time & fees, to a sentence that was worked out already in the courts, it truly has become unconstitutional/unlawful.
They have also grouped [a wide variety of crimes from one time crimes to serial crimes] – they are definately different ! They have also added juvenile records in with adult records…not fair !
What is the point of going into court and going through all the motions, accepting plea bargains, serving a sentence, just to find out that NOW you have to register for life ? That is arbitrarily adding on to a sentence ! There should be a period at the end of a sentence, right ?
Perhaps this idea could be submitted to our President – especially when he is aluding to giving ” affluent ” people a pardon – Thank-you

Police tech can sidestep facial recognition bans now (MIT Tech Review 13 May 2025)

“It’s about a new method police departments and federal agencies have found to track people: an AI tool that uses attributes like body size, gender, hair color and style, clothing, and accessories instead of faces. It offers a way around laws curbing the use of facial recognition, which are on the rise.

Advocates from the ACLU, after learning of the tool through MIT Technology Review, said it was the first instance they’d seen of such a tracking system used at scale in the US, and they say it has a high potential for abuse by federal agencies.”

A true police state…

I submitted a complaint about my assigned tier: Tier 3 to my local senate office. I also sent in a complaint about SB 384. Just this past week the staff I talked to told me that they can’t work on civil matters. My question is, “Who can I speak to about getting me off the registry?” Another question I have is “Who can I address my thoughts and feelings to about SB 384 and the registry law as a whole?”

Passport question,

upon receiving my granted petition, I would like to expedite my passport ( 3 weeks ). With that said, what is the normal time frame for the powers that be to receive notice of removal from registry from my jurisdiction. I understand I can email the dept to verify, but should I send a notarized photocopy of my court document or do they wait for their official copy. Don’t want to have to re apply when they send new PP and it has “ THE MARK” on it.

Spoke to my attorney today. He is a former Detective with connections in DA’s office. He asked about my petition and was told that there would be no action taken by DA against it. They have forwarded it on. I now just need to wait for the judge to grant the petition. Could be any day now. I can see the finish line. He says we will go out for a beer afterwards. Bet he will stick me with the tab! 🤣

This Q is directed to Ms. Bellucci.

Since mine is a misdomeanor , and I am being removed from registry, Does this open the way to applying to a law program? Already have M.S. and interested in the accelerated JD program from National university. Since I plan to move offshore as well as travel a bit, the online program would fit my needs. Any recommendations as to how to proceed would be appreciated.

thx,

The new FBI assistant director gave an interview recently where he stated that they will be “going after” child predators. This is great, but I wonder how far they will bend laws in order to do so. And where will it stop. Are they going to redefine the term to suit their agenda? Are they going to expand law enforcement powers to entrap? Are they going to make past offenses relevant even though the person may have been removed from registry and not committed any subsequent crimes? Are they now going to re write federal registry laws to eliminate any chance of removal? It’s time to start accepting that things will be changing soon, and not for the better. Any person that thinks that the registry is going to be eliminated is living in a fantasy world.

I have a question for California Registrants. When completing the annual registration, there are about 3 pages that need to be initialed, understanding the requirements of registration. Only for an address change does it say you have to report this within 5 business days. There is nothing that tells you that you have to report a new vehicle or change in employment, other than at the annual. I want to know if there is anything on the 290 law that states that a vehicle or employment change needs to be reported within 5 business days. I am not asking to hear that it might be best to report this anyways as to not raise any flags. I just want to know what the law says or requires. Kind of like opening your door during a compliance check. These checks are not mandated by law and purely made up by the local police department. Still, many of us, who are no longer on paper, briefly open the door just to make them go away. If you don’t open the door, you are not in trouble, but they might cause a scene. So, same question for the vehicle and employment question. Nobody should do anything that is not required by law, and I am not telling anyone what they should or shouldn’t do. I simply want to know if it required by law or not.
