The Marshall County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday that a Guntersville man has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material.
Gary Stephen Greenwell, 67, pleaded guilty in October 2025 to ten counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. Due to a prior felony conviction, the statutory punishment for each count was two to 20 years in prison. Greenwell was sentenced to 20 years for each of the ten counts which will be served consecutively.
The D.A.’s office says that in March 2025,…
Look through a list of mass murderers to see how many received less years than Greenwell

How many Alabama lawmakers, judges, and parents have semi or nude pictures of their children/grandchildren coming into the world as a naked newborn, sitting on the pot ( toilet) or first time taking a tubby and capturing the moment(s)? All of those seem innocent, however could land one on the registry under the current laws aimed at protecting children.
Alabama should be renamed western Floriduh, ” Home of Forrest Gump where stupid is as stupid does deep in the Montgomery and the heart of Dixie.”
“After receiving the tip”
Notice how they didn’t divulge the source of the tip.
One guess where the tip came from —> NCMEC <—
You just don’t get that amount he had without actively doing this for years.. and he probably felt confortable and safe after a while. Then got greedy by paying crypto for more hardcore stuff which was most likely a honeypot being moinitored.
Porn addiction. He obviously has a problem and being on the registry did not prevent this from happening.
Even though without a doubt he was wrong, I still find it crazy to receive so much time for pictures, pictures that he had zero part in concerning the production. He got more time than actual murderers who take a life, and I dont buy the “his willing to purchase said material caused it to be produced” nonsense, those people were going to make it regardless. Theres ZERO way anyone can convince me those pictures, are worse than taking someones life. I recall during the last war we were in, ISIS was posting videos of them murdering and decapitating people. Are those who saw said videos being charged with any sort of participation in a murder charge? I have zero issue with him paying for his crime, its the fact they treat his crime as worse than actual murder is what I disagree with.
Why is the punishment far more than murdering people? I would think murder is the worst offense one could do.
With Punishment’s like this, Please explain why the SOR is necessary!!!
