A community on the northside of Cork city were targeted overnight by a vigilante leafleting campaign in which a man was accused of being a sex offender.
Leaflets featuring a photograph and a name were left on cars overnight in the vicinity, with locals speaking of their distress when they discovered them this Friday morning.
There have been several instances of the leaflets being left along a number of streets in the neighbourhood.
Only accused? Not arrested, indicted, or convicted?
Since registries are so effective, perhaps a vigilante registry should be created to prevent this sort of thing…

A long time ago I was looking into how registration works in other countries.
While this happened and Ireland does have a registry of sorts (nothing like what we know as registries), their laws are quite stringent AND ENFORCED around this type of vigilante behavior.
Did ya notice the article wasn’t about nor did it name the accused? The story wasn’t that an offender was in the neighborhood, but that vigilantes were active… Something that hearkens back to “the troubles”. Not welcome in any form.
