The Alliance for Constitutional Sex Offense Laws (ACSOL) conducted a successful two-day virtual conference on September 17 and September 18. More than 240 tickets were sold for the conference which included plenary presentations from subject matter experts Dr. Jill Levenson of Florida and ACLU attorney Miriam Aukerman of Michigan.
The conference also included a wide variety of presentations on topics such as stigma and PTSD experienced by registrants and their families as well as domestic and international travel, parole and probation conditions, and failures to register. Further, the conference included presentations by both successful registrants and challenges faced by family members.
A link to recordings of conference presentations will be made available to everyone who has already purchased a ticket for the 2021 conference. If you did not attend, you may still purchase a ticket to watch them, and scholarships are available to registrants unable to pay the $25 ticket price. The recordings will not be made available to the general public. The first conference recordings are expected to be available during the next 7 days. If you do not receive a link to those recordings during that time or are in need of a scholarship, send an email to conference@all4consolaws.org.
“The scope of this year’s conference was very broad both geographically and substantively,” stated ACSOL Executive Director Janice Bellucci. “We believe the breadth and depth of the conference provided concrete ideas methods for both registrants and their families regarding how to successfully navigate life while on the registry.”
A new ACSOL conference panel included presentations by the executive directors of three organizations that share ACSOL’s goal of restoring the civil rights of registrants and their families. The panel was led by Adele Nicholas of Illinois Voices and also included Mary Sue Molnar of Texas Voices and Ambler Vlangas of the Restorative Action Alliance (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut). Each executive director identified current challenges in their state as well as recent successes.
The ACSOL conference ended with a presentation by ACSOL Executive Director Bellucci regarding a future vision for registrants and their families. ACSOL sincerely thanks, Chuck Henderson, Roger Hunnicutt and Carlton Morse for their technical assistance which contributed significantly to the successful conference.
The 2021 conference is the fifth annual ACSOL conference and the second ACSOL conference to be held virtually. ACSOL expects to conduct its 2022 conference both in person as well as virtually during the fall (September or October). The exact date of the conference will depend upon the availability of Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles and will be announced on this website on a later date.
Thank you Janice, Carlton, and Roger for your contributions to the 2021 ACSOL Conference.
Thank you ACSOL for everything thinking you guys do for people forced to register in California, look how far we’ve come in the last 8-9 years.
Good look
It was a great conference. So grateful to everyone who contributed.
Thank you for this conference, I always learn something new and gain a perspective on where we are heading. The subject is complex and depressing but you bring us hope. Thanks to all the speakers and zoom hosts who made this a meaningful conference.
Folks have signed up and paid to hear the recording of the conference but have never received the conference link, so what should they do?
Hi. Great conference. Will slides be available to attendees as well? Thanks.
