A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with over 30 counts of sex crimes involving children, CBS Los Angeles reports.
“Sexually assaulting a child not only robs them of their innocence but also leaves lasting mental trauma. This is one of the most egregious crimes my office encounters and it is made worse when the crime is committed by someone who has been entrusted to protect them and our community from harm,” District Attorney Gascón said.
On Tuesday, Deputy Sean ___ was indicted by a grand jury on 18 counts of oral sex acts with a child, 12 counts of lewd acts on a child young than 14 years old, two counts of sexual acts with a child young than 14 and one count of possession of child porn — a total of 33 counts. The charges include a case from 2006 that was previously declined by the District Attorney’s office.
SEE!!!!!! The registry worked!…..oh…….no it didn’t….
“The charges include a case from 2006 that was previously declined by the District Attorney’s office.”
I wonder why it was declined? Surely it wasn’t a case of he boys in blue watching each others asses!
And that bit at the end of higher department standards? Maybe you shouldn’t be coddling all your domestic abusers either. PD across the country are rife with this.
Not only the Registry FAILED AGAIN to protect these young victims from sex crimes – but it has also managed to ADD SALT TO THE WOUND by having a deputy that upholds these stupid laws to be the perpetrator of the sex crimes.
Bravo. Well done, you idiot politicians – you’ve managed to get people to buy your snake oil of fear and paranoia – so you can get re-elected on this platform of yours at the expense of the American public.
You’ve managed to get people to exchange real vigilance with a shoddy scam called the Registry at the detriment of society’s most vulnerable. This Registry has misdirected the public for decades and made society blind from the real dangers that is already within their communities, schools, and – oh yes – police force.
This stranger danger myth has scammed Americans for decades and politicians have used that to GAME THE SYSTEM for their own benefit – and no one else.
So a person who knew of the registry, wasn’t affected by it, and probably enforced it, didn’t stop this evil.
The registry doesn’t work.
“Sexually assaulting a child not only robs them of their innocence but also leaves lasting mental trauma. This is one of the most egregious crimes my office encounters and it is made worse when the crime is committed by someone who has been entrusted to protect them and our community from harm,” District Attorney Gascón said.
This translates to…I have no clue how to prevent these things from happening and I have no advice for parents but I will punish the culprit and place him on the registry where he will be supervised and kept away from children.
“Society expects peace officers to hold themselves to the highest moral and ethical standards, as does the Sheriff,” the department wrote
.
This is why officers, judges, etc. should get a double sentence when they are caught and not a reduced sentence or slap on the wrist and the F.O.P. getting them their job back while you and me get raked through the coals.
That’s a very tired, old, often repeated and, inaccurate mantra coming from Mr Gascon.
This story just illustrates the fact that over 90% of child molestations are perpetrated by someone trusted by the child, and not by a stranger or the registrant down the street. The DA had a great opportunity to actually protect children by educating the public with this fact. But acknowledging where the real dangers lie is too uncomfortable for most people.
🤔 Wait….. if parents are focusing on local registrants while uncle/priest/teacher/coach is molesting their child, shouldn’t we Registrants be arrested and charged with some new charge …. like “criminal distraction by negligence” or “felony public distraction”…. cuz, ya’know, it’s always guilty, right?! 😝
The Sheriff’s Dept. will circle the wagons, claim this person is an outlier and bury the story as quickly as possible. Would not be surprised if he ate his gun with in the next few weeks. The egos that these people have about being so righteous in their duties makes the prospect of being a felon unbearable.
I wonder how many LEOs this makes just this yr that have been charged with a sex related offense. Those stats would be interesting to see. I have read of 5 cases myself.
They got his azz, I think the best part of this story is he got a little taste of what’s life’s like for sex offenders wile looking over his shoulders for the last 15 years.
I bet he was praying this would just go away I remember thinking that when I was fighting my case, I thought maybe the DA is so busy they’ll just forget about me but no they tried my skinny azz and put me on Megan’s law at 18yo so me personally I hope this sheriff gets life in prison.
