Nearly 270 public educators were arrested on child sex-related crimes in the U.S. in the first nine months of this year, ranging from grooming to raping underage students.
An analysis conducted by Fox News Digital found that from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, at least 269 educators were arrested, which works out to roughly one arrest a day.
The 269 educators included four principals, two assistant principals, 226 teachers, 20 teacher’s aides and 17 substitute teachers.
At least 199 of the arrests, or 74%, involved alleged crimes against students.
Hey, foxnews, you tried the moral panic angle this election cycle and FAIL! Time better spent learning how to write more factually and concisely.
At least 269 K-12 educators arrested on child sex crimes in first 9 months of this year
74% of the arrests involved alleged crimes against students
And to think that the Registry had NOTHING to do with any of the arrests made, ZERO. NONE. ZILCH.
Another thing – the Registry did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to protect the students from grooming to sexual assault from these offenders.
So why do we even bother having a Registry if it does NOTHING to protect the vulnerable? What is really good for?
Oh yeah – get politicians votes and more money for law enforcement. That is all…
The author of this article, Christopher Rufo, is a far-right wing extremist, seemingly dedicated to making pronouncements that will endear him to the ill-informed, frightened and conspiracy-prone citizens who follow Fox News, OAN, QAnon, and the like.
He is well-known in GOP/MAGA circles as he was the individual who championed, loudly and consistently, that “critical race theory” was a major problem in our schools. Rufo said that CRT, a decades-old academic framework that most people had never even heard of, had “pervaded every institution in the federal government.” He went on to characterize the teaching of CRT as a “cult indoctrination.” All of which is complete BS. This made him a Trump/MAGA favorite and got him a “seat at the table”, especially with the likes of the Murdoch mob.
So now here he goes again, taking aim at those teachers, and others, who commit sex offenses (some of which includes offenses against minors). We can expect more from this charlatan snake-oil salesman, so be prepared.
For more information regarding the article’s “reliable source of information”, Christopher Rufo, I suggest you check out the Wikipedia page regardng this so-called “scholar”.
Very illuminating.
This story, what can I say? Obviously, my heart goes out to anyone that was victimized, particularly if the victim is a child. However, Fox “News” has proven to be an unreliable source of information far too often for me to simply accept anything they say at face value.
So what, if anything, actually happened on the Nation’s school? Who know?!? Finding out that a teacher addicted one or more of their students, while upsetting, is not surprising. Finding out that there are numerous people abusing their positions in schools across the Nation to facilitate sexual assaults, is infuriating, but unfortunately also not surprising.
Interesting that the article mentioned the idea of people moving into positions of access and authority over potential victims. Compared this to the Catholic Abuse scandal, which also involved people with access and authority. These people, along with violent people, are your dangerous child victimizers. People that make career and life decisions to facilitate abuse. This is a form of predation… passive predation, but still predation. Like a crocodile.
Crocs don’t run their prey down, they lazily drift through prey rich areas…slowly sneak up to their unsuspecting prey…then pounce. Ambush predators, attacking targets of opportunity. That’s how I see abusing teachers. Drifting through the school, causing no alarm, preying on targets of opportunity.
I don’t know about you, but that’s not me. I was never, nor did I ever consider being a teacher, Youth Sports coach, tutor, Adult leader/mentor…or anything similar. Never considered a position, either professional or volunteer, that would give me either access to or authority over kids. Truth is, I generally avoided situations where I knew there would be kids around. I’m not a parent, so never really learned how to deal with the noise and general randomness of kids.
So why am I treated the same as someone who clearly went out of their way to be around potential child victims?
Not violent either…but treated as if that is a distinct and realistic possibility.
The author of this article doesn’t really care about children. He’s only interested in playing out some ideological battle for his conservative Fox News audience. Public education = bad. Private education = good. In spite of the multi-generational child sex abuse scandal unfolding in PRIVATE Catholic schools, they’re still not as bad as the recent wave of child sex crimes occurring in public schools.
Seriously? This the argument this Fox contributor is putting out for his brain dead audience?
