SAN DIEGO — San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond on Monday became the first board member to call for Nathan Fletcher to step down immediately, saying the accusations of sexual misconduct against the beleaguered fourth district supervisor detract from important county business.
“While this is a pending civil case, it’s clear that Mr. Fletcher should end his County employment immediately,” the Republican supervisor said in a statement in his newsletter, noting that Fletcher will keep being paid his county salary and benefits for weeks while he is absent.
…
Fletcher announced his plans to resign just days after he said he was taking medical leave for mental health issues and ending his state Senate campaign, and one day after the filing of a lawsuit that accused him of kissing and groping a Metropolitan Transit System employee while he led its board of directors.
A deal should be struck with this reprobate sexual offender. He could stay on the Board with the provision that his work is limited to the reform of sex offender regulations, conditions and restrictions in San Diego County, with the goal of making such regulations, etc. less onerous and less draconian. He should propose legislation in which County resources are made available for the housing needs of registered citizens, as well as working with local businesses to develop employment opportunities for our population. Job training programs should also be developed. He should not be allowed to speak or give input at any public Board hearings on any subject matter other than this. His salary and pensions should be adjusted downward, and he must write a public apologiy, admitting to his wrongdoings. I’m sure we can think of a few more conditions if we put our minds to it, but this is a start.
See how the hysteria works in our country now. No more innocent until proven guilty. It is now guilty until you prove yourself innocent. Desmond calls for Fletcher’s resignation immediatly. For all we know Desmond set the thing up and bribed the women to say these things in order to get rid of Fletcher. Like the guy or not, we have seen too many fraudulent cases of accusations of sexual misconduct and most of them are bogus. Political parties now use the sexual allegation as a means to destroy their opponents. Hopefully it will start to get like the accusation of racism. It has been so overused in the media it is becoming meaningless, and that is a good thing.
