Michigan Senate votes almost unanimously to pass the eight-bill package Thursday
The bills were first introduced as a reaction to the 2018 Larry Nassar scandal
Legislation would create a felony for those who sexually abuse their patients and lie to them about it
LANSING — A bipartisan legislative package to strengthen penalties for sexual assaults and protect survivors cleared the Michigan Senate almost unanimously Thursday.
The legislation will now head to the House.
The package was first introduced in 2018 following the conviction of Larry Nassar, a former U.S. women’s gymnastics team doctor and former Michigan State University physician who sexually assaulted hundreds of girls and women under the veil of medical treatments.
Nothing in the lawmakers “reform package” target registered “sex offenders.” So I think we’re making progress here.🤙
Michigan you need to stop playing Devils advocate ! Start protecting the children of Michigan, not fill the community with BS stories like this & lies, All these scare tactics to creating more money and power for reelections. Just in my town alone we have 4 schools and 5 weed stores, Every weed store has a armed guard , Not one school does? All the money the state of Michigan takes in from the lottery and from weed stores and they can’t afford to protect the children LOL Go figure, Sad but true. Not to mention when i was a kid playboys were top secret, I remember the mail man knocking on my door to deliver my older brothers subscription LOL Today every kid owns a cell phone and has 24 hour internet access to all adult sites LOL go figure. Not a law on the books to stop this either, Its so funny, That’s Not protecting the children these Politician’s are idiot’s. The real crazy thing about all this is so are the people who support them or believe the lies they feed us. No one even questions the fact that the pot stores ALL have armed guards but the schools do NOT. Yeah they really care about the children. State of Michigan You Suck.
Creating new laws isn’t going to stop anything or protect victims. Creating new laws because of what one idiot did is akin to closing the barn door after the horse already escaped.
It matters not how many “tough on crime” laws are enacted because there will always be people who break the law. Many states have the death penalty as a way to “deter” crime, yet people in those state still commit murder.
These new laws will not stop anything.
