My final (🤞🏼) annual is next week. I have already filled out my CR- 415 and just waiting for day I can file with the various depts. I do have a couple questions for other readers, though.
I am filing in Santa Clara County on a tier 1 Misdemeanor. No issues during or post probation.
Someone mentioned Alabama, but their comment got buried before I was able to respond to it. In March, the state just passed a law banning people on the registry from working or volunteering as first responders. There’s also one proposal banning the use of a PO Box or possession of electronic media if victim was 12 years or under. That means a tablet or phone with internet capabilities. I don’t know how’d they enforce that one. Or if it’ll survive constitutional muster. And finally, my favorite one. Alabama recently passed a law requiring individuals who engage in sex crimes with minors to forfeit any public retirement benefits. Those Alabama lawmakers are actually cheating people out of their pensions over something totally unrelated. How does raiding a worker’s hard earned retirement account protect children? 🤔 Those crackers done gone crazy in Alabama
Louisiana Overdetention – Louisiana Inmate Held 525 Days Past His Release Seeks Justice
Percy Taylor was kept in a Louisiana prison 525 days past his release date. He is not alone in being held beyond his sentence in a Louisiana detention facility. In January 2023, the U.S. Department of Justice found that the Louisiana Department of Corrections has been violating the constitutional rights of thousands of people in its custody.
This problem has been known for more than a decade, yet the state has failed to create a system to properly calculate release dates and let people go free on those dates. The DOJ found that in the first four months of 2022, more than a quarter of people released from custody were held past the day they should have been free.
The Megan’s Law website has been down all weekend. Hopefully it just stays down.
Anyone know if I can go to Disneyland or even the Downtown Disney area in Anaheim?
Apparently there’s some security you need to go to in order to get into Downtown Disney, then to get into Disneyland itself there’s more in depth checkpoint. Anyone know if it’s possible?
Have some days off coming and would at least like to visit Downtown Disney with the family but I’m just not sure. Wouldn’t be surprised if they have facial recognition cameras.
