WELLINGTON, Utah — A Wellington father was arrested and faces a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a registered sex offender 17 times after he allegedly made comments his minor daughter.
Thad James Gurule was arrested on Wednesday.
Police were called Monday to a Wellington home in Wellington after a call regarding a man covered in blood standing on the porch. Emergency personnel eventually found the victim a short distance away from the location with multiple stab wounds and lacerations.
…
Officers identified the alleged attacker, Thad James Gurule, and contacted him at his home, where he admitted to assaulting the man because he allegedly made comments about Gurule’s daughter.
Gurule told detectives that he did an internet search on the victim and discovered that he was a registered sex offender.
…
When Gurule’s residence was searched, investigators found multiple paraphernalia items, suspected marijuana, and suspected methamphetamine.

Another tragedy. A person required to register was brutally attacked based upon something he said. This makes no sense. The only bright spot in the article is the headline that recognizes the attacker was a vigilante.
@Janice
One should not assume that the attacker has made a credible accusation against the victim. The fact that the police found methamphetamine (and God knows what else) in his residence raises a number of possibilities leading to this violent assault (e.g., auditory hallucinations and/or paranoid ideations due to drug abuse); or possibly he was provided false or unfounded gossip from neighbors; or he has a personal history which has formed a basis for extreme prejudice against PFR’s.
I would not assume that the victim did anything wrong at all, although at this point we don’t know this for a fact either.
Nonetheless, as you have stated, it is indeed a tragedy. Vigilantes present more of an immediate threat to our safety than any police officer, probation/parole officer, prosecutor or even a judge. This, of course, is due to the publication of our personal information online. In my opinion, this is the #1 issue facing those of us forced to register. If our information was not made public, there would be a significant reduction in these type of vigilante attacks, resulting in an equal reduction in the number of victims. The solution? The overturning of Megan’s Law – either through legal action or through the legislative process. Of course I would be more than willing to provide whatever assistance that I can in achieving this goal.
“Gurule told detectives that he did an internet search on the victim and discovered that he was … registered …”
The government created the [derogatory label] … which directly incites all this death and violence against a lot more members of the public than those on the registry ever did!
The government members responsible must be held accountable for all these deaths and the brutal violence they conspire to incite under their public safety guise!
Even the children recognize what the government is doing to their families with this blatant abuse of power!
We can prove our losses; they cannot show justification for it!
They must stop intentionally sacrificing us for an alleged protection that they cannot show!
We demand EMERGENCY RELIEF NOW!
This man’s blood is on the government’s hands!
Well u gotta protect yourself by any means necessary if ur on the list people know. Don’t be stupid stay ready…The USA is not a real place and California isn’t safe.
