UK: Vigilante group protests at home of convicted sex offender

A VIGILANTE group have been protesting at the rural home of a convicted sex offender.

About 20 members of the ‘Awareness Protection Group’ attended at the Castlemains Farm property near Gifford at about 9pm on Friday.

They confronted stables owner Campbell Taylor, who was convicted of sexually assaulting three women following a trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last year.

Footage posted on social media showed the vigilante group arriving at the farm and shouting abuse at Taylor regarding his conviction.

Police officers were then seen attempting to calm the situation and it is believed that the group dispersed soon after.

Following the incident, a response to the protest was posted on the Castlemains Farm Facebook page stating that the incident had been “bizarre, frightening and completely unacceptable”.

The post read: “Recently, late at night and in the dark, a vigilante group of around 20-30 people arrived at my farm.

“They entered the property shouting and swearing, demanding that I come outside to speak to them.
