SACRAMENTO — Gov. Jerry Brown cracked down on sex offenders who disarm their electronic trackers while on parole, signing legislation Saturday requiring that they stay in jail once they are caught.
Some counties with severely crowded jails have freed such offenders almost immediately after detaining them for tampering with the GPS devices, a Times investigation found this year. The bill Brown approved requires that the offenders be sentenced to 180 days and serve their entire parole revocation in jail. Full Article
This I don’t mind, if your own parole you have to walk a straight line.. but I would mind if they added “life time sentencing” to those that tamper with their collars.. and it must be clear evidence that tampering was done and not some sort of technological hiccup
We are all on parole or probation, having to tell law enforcement where we are going, banned from parks, having to ask permission to see our own children at school. When I was on “formal” probation they loosened up some restrictions based on my good behavior. Now, even if we live a clean life, still they think of some way to take away what freedoms we have, not based on individual actions, but based on class. The definition of who is in that class becomes more broad as the punishments become more arbitrary.
