The City of Loma Linda has joined a growing number of cities by agreeing not to enforce its sex offender ordinance that prohibits registered citizens from entering city parks and other recreational areas. The agreement will last until the California Supreme Court makes its decision whether or not to review two recent Court of Appeals decisions that overturned similar ordinances in Orange County and the City of Irvine.
Loma Linda’s decision was conveyed to California RSOL in a letter signed by the City Manager and dated March 17, 2014. The agreement was reached after the city received a letter from California RSOL notifying them of the recent Court of Appeals decisions.
Thank you, Loma Linda, for agreeing not to enforce your city ordinance that prohibited where a registered citizen could be present in your city. This decision is a stopgap measure in that it temporarily solves the problem of adopting an ordinance that is preempted by state law. We look forward to working with Loma Linda and other cities toward a permanent solution in the future.
HomeRun work of Janice Bellucci, staff and supporters..!!! ..from the cloth of President Kennedy and Robert Kennedy closing down Injustice…..let loma linda ordinance be an “example on how Not to treat people” .
Congratulations Janice!! This needed to happen a long time ago, and I believe more and more people are realizing this now.
I commend u Janice for your diligence in this matter and i look forward to your continued support to help in matters such as this.
Here is the scary part! I had no idea any city enforced this law? How would I know? Yet, we have people with 25 year old expunged misdemeanors that resulted in summary probation paying huge taxes and still being treated like a criminal or threat? Yet, we have repeat gang members, drug dealers, thief’s, robbers and killers with more rights??? I’m very angry and things need to change! The Halloween so called ban is a joke as well. We have a multitude of cities passing this ban and I bet most of them have no idea why? Sounded good? I thought? There have been no instances of an offender breaking the law during Halloween, but let’s do it anyways just in case? Other cities are? It’s becoming a joke! Let’s prohibit the guy convicted/or who plead non contest to a battery 25 years ago at a massage parlor form handing out candy? Sounds good to me. The School Raptor thing is a joke as well. It only shows people who are on the website! Raptor forgot to mention there are more kids being molested by teachers then sex offenders! ? Duh
