Northern Ireland: Sex offender awarded £20,000 in damages against Facebook

A convicted child abuser who featured on a Facebook page set up to monitor paedohphiles in Northern Ireland is to be awarded £20,000 in damages, a High Court judge ruled today.

In a landmark verdict, Mr Justice Stephens held that both the social media giant and page operator Joe McCloskey were liable for misusing private information. He also ordered that the ‘Keeping Our Kids Safe From Predators 2’ profile at the centre of the lawsuit is to be terminated. Full Article

He held that Mr McCloskey set up the Facebook page to “destroy the family life of sex offenders, to expose them to total humiliation and vilification, to drive them from their homes and to expose them to the risk of serious harm”.

yes, yes, yes.

Wake up America. Don’t let our shine diminish. Let justice glorify our nation once again.

This guy is a vigilante trying to stir up violence against a registered citizen. I don’t think a big fine is enough, prison time is what is needed; and Facebook needs to be handed a big fine and prohibited from allowing this to go on.

“the judge said information published indiscriminately could have threatened public order and incited violence and hatred.”

It appears the system in this land; from the highest court down to the smallest police station don’t give a damn about public order or inciting violence and hatred when it comes to registrants, as recently evidenced in the city of Hemet, as well as all of the murders, attacks on property and registrants, and the never ending string of new laws all directed at registrants.

Collateral damage, like wives and children are never mentioned or considered, so I assume they are even less than the registrant, in fact they must be non entities. All of this makes me ashamed to be an american and in fact I wish I was born in some other land.

Hooray for “CG” and shame on facebook. That site should be taken down in it’s entirety. All the registry seems to do is incite hatred and perverted thoughts of violence. And I still fail to see how the registry is good for anything. I believe this country has lost God’s blessings (not individual blessings) because of the lesser men and women in public office. They are evil.
