Good article. Frustratingly, the treatment program “had been given a small grant to subsidise therapy for those who couldn’t afford to pay for themselves.” Frustrating because of the absurd amount of money that is spent on law enforcement programs that only kick in AFTER an offense occurs, rather than beforehand, when perhaps it could be stopped before it ever occurs.
An area that groups like ACSOL need to promote is diversional justice. Most of the first time sex offenses against children would be best for the victim if the perpetrator is process through sound treatment program with a strong mentoring and accountability season rater than a vengeful and disabling penial system.
