About 336 sex offenders are listed on the state registry in the Missoula area, and that’s only the number of those who are compliant with their registration.
Assistant Attorney General Madison Mattioli stepped into a grant-funded position in April to address the 4,744 sex offenders statewide who are not compliant with current addresses and information on the state Department of Justice’s Sexual and Violent Registration.
According to numerous online sources, Montana is home to a total of 2300 registered citizens. That number includes compliant and non-compliant.
So how is it that they’re claiming more than double the total are non-compliant?
Seriously, do any journalists actually fact-check anymore, or do they just run with whatever BS is fed to them?
Yeah! More paychecks can go out.
Curiously absent from the story is the amount of the grant received. I’d bet it’s significantly larger then the combined salaries of the two assistant AGs and two DOJ agents, none of whom would be unemployed if the registry were abolished – they’s just be reassigned to other departments.
I wonder what it would take to get SORNA to demand audits to verify how their grant funds are spent…
