ACSOL ACTION ALERT! Call Assy Approp. Committee to support CA Senate Bill 145

The calls you have made so far about CA Senate Bill 145 have made a dramatic difference in blocking Residency Restrictions! Great teamwork!

You also helped LGBTQ registrants from being treated unjustly. They appreciate that!

Your calls also have given ACSOL a huge increase in political credibility, especially in gratitude from Senator Scott Wiener for supporting SB 145, which affects a key constituent of his.

Let’s keep the momentum going! We want to finish the last two steps in getting SB 145 passed to cement our political credibility.

The next step in the process is calling the Assembly’s Appropriations Committee to support SB 145 at their August hearing (date yet to be determined). In September, we will take the final step and all call our local Assembly Members to support it.

Please take a few minutes to call them in July.

The phone numbers are shown after the mailing address of each member. Yes, there are 18 members, but phone calls are fast. All you need to say is something like the following:

“Hi, I want to comment on a bill. I would like Assembly Member __________ and the rest of the Assembly Appropriations Committee members to SUPPORT Senate Bill 145.”

NOTE: If they ask if you have any more comments, you could say something like “It would begin treating the LGBTQ community the same as heterosexuals for some sex crimes.”

Here is a tip: When the staff person answers the phone, be sure to listen to how they pronounce the Assembly Member’s name.

ACSOL will not attend the hearing in August.

Because of the unusual way the Assembly Appropriations Committee operates, such as not allowing verbal comments, ACSOL is not planning at this time to attend the hearing in August.

Thank you for your willingness to keep this momentum going. It has paid off handsomely so far, and will continue to pay off.
