FL: Orange County sergeant accused of abuse of power terminated

Source: msn.com 10/7/21

A sergeant with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has been terminated after the sheriff’s office said he abused his power during a traffic stop.

An internal investigation into a traffic stop found Vidler purposely targeted Jeremy Dewitte, a registered sex offender who has a history of arrests for impersonating a police officer.

Initially, Vidler said he was pulling the convicted felon over for carrying a firearm, but it turned out to be a pepper ball gun.

A sheriff’s office internal investigation found the pepper ball weapon was in plain view and not concealed, and that Dewitte should have been released, but instead he was taken to jail.

Really a GoFundMe for officer vidler, this guy deserves to get fired, he was over doing his job.
The only reason this cop was stocking Jeremy Dewitte was because he was a sex offender plain and simple.
I’ve personally been harrassed by detectives for being on the registry, Iv even had cops approach my mother-in-law threatening to take her grand kids if I didn’t move out of her house, they did this for months before she actually hired a lawyer and contacted the officers supervisors.
When I was on probation back in the day a Jurupa Valley sheriff would have the on site manager open my apartment when I wasn’t home and go through my mail looking for another address with my name on it.
I remember my PO even felt disrespected by this guy but she never said anything even though he kept stepping on her toes.

Good luck

The Sheriff is the ultimate person responsible for their staff’s conduct so why aren’t they being questioned on this? All people, inc
commissioners, need to hold them accountable.

How interesting. I remember first reading about Jeremy Dewitte about a year ago, during the pandemic. He owned a funeral escort company called Metro State, in Florida, in which some of his motorcycle driving seemed pretty extreme and dangerous. Their escort cars and motorcycles looked like legit law enforcement. I remember one particularly hilarious clip, which is as follows, in which Dewitte shows an Orange County, Florida sheriff sergeant his police car-like lights and the sergeant freaks out [exact timestamp as follows]:

Hahaha, so hilarious.

I’ve been following the Jeremy story for a long time. This has very little to do with him being a sex offender and more about how he acts like a cop, wears uniforms that look like a cop and drives vehicles with flashing lights and sirens just like a cop. He was also wearing a duty belt with the empty magazine holders and handcuff holders, gun holster and pepper spray. I guess Florida allows felons to carry pepper spray. He even mistakenly pulled over an off duty cop. He illegally stops traffic and pulls people over. He isn’t even a licenced security officer since he can’t get that license. He’s just a funeral escort person that operates a company under his ex wife’s name. His live helmet cam videos all over the internet are shocking regardless of him being on Megan’s List. He at least recently changed the color of the uniform’s to make them less cop like.

It’s Florida. I’m surprised he wasn’t promoted!
