Source: antiguaobserver.com 12/27/21

Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin says residents will soon be alerted when a sex offender moves into their neighborhood by the creation of a sex offenders registry.

Now, the AG says that once convicted, the names of all sexual offenders will be placed on a public registry from early next year.

makes sense.. Africa is stepping up on world stage with their industrial upgrade from China.. Got to do what other world powers are doing

Antigua is in the Caribbean.

But I agree that it is a very “first world” thing to do.

One way to make your country less safe is to follow the land of Hypocrisy aka United States. I rather chew on a hay straw than follow the United States off a cliff.

There is no doubt that Registries make a place less safe. Extremely, deadly dangerous, in fact.

Only simpletons believe that Registries increase public safety. Unfortunately, a vast majority of Americans are that or worse. The rest of the world is likely about the same.

You have to wonder how much of the money needed to fund this effort and implement it will come from the FY22 budget Congress puts into play and POTUS signed into law. Foreign Aid is a wonderful thing when it does what the originating country wants in a place that’s willing to do it when paid to do it. Hate to use the word bribery here, but I don’t see anyone starving or lacking in Antigua due to a natural event of late…

Can registrants visit Antigua? I have family with vacation property there. I don’t plan to visit soon but may some day be invited.

Oprah Winfrey has a home here; maybe she has something to with this since she’s committed to the welfare of her fellow human beings…

There have been many ACSOL posts regarding countries creating a public registry. How many countries are there now?
