ANAHEIM, CA — A former Anaheim elementary school teacher and high school wrestling coach pleaded guilty Monday to possessing child pornography.
Richard ____, 45, of Anaheim, pleaded guilty to a count of possession of child pornography. ____ is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 18 in federal court in Santa Ana.
____ previously worked as a fourth-grade teacher at Crescent Elementary School and was a volunteer boys’ wrestling coach at Canyon High School in Anaheim, according to federal prosecutors.
I never will understand American child pornography laws. They throw around the word “ possession” as if someone was busted with a stack of magazines and dvds. But the truth is possession means videos that someone downloaded from the internet onto their computer. Why does that constitute a 5 year prison sentence, but downloading a bunch of child torture videos is perfectly legal. These laws are like a cruel joke.
